DENVER – What started as a walk to the park with his dogs ended with a trip to the hospital for a Denver dog owner. 32-year-old Mark Ashford says he was beaten black and blue by two Denver Police officers. “They punched him and pinned him up against the fence and forced his head into the concrete.” Ashford’s attorney, Will Hart, said the beating that was caught on camera is a clear case of Excessive Force. “This happened when he was walking his dogs, he has a conversation with another citizen that the police officer doesn’t like and as a result, he ends up in the hospital,” said Hart. Hart says Mark Ashford was walking his dogs near 20th and Little Raven in LoDo, when he saw police pull over a driver for failing to stop at a stop sign. Ashford told the driver he saw him stop and would be willing to testify in court. Hart says the officer overheard him and “wasn’t very happy.” That’s when Ashford says the Denver police officers demanded his ID and detained him. Ashford tried to take a picture of the officers to document the incident, and a few second later he was on the ground. Police charged Ashford with interference and resisting arrest. Hart says, the charges were later dropped because the officers violated Ashford’s 4th amendment rights, “they had no reason to stop him, take his ID or detain him.” An Excessive Force complaint was filed against both officers involved. I’m investigating cat repellents for my garden. It’s mostly flowers but I do have one area where I grow garlic, so whatever I choose needs to be safe enough to use NEAR the garlic, even if I don’t sprinkle it right on top of it.
I’ve settled on some type of granule because I don’t want to be out there spraying every day.
I don’t need to get rid of the cats completely, they just need to stop pooing in freshly turned dirt.
I’m thinking of either wolf urine granules or Repel Dog & Cat Repellent or Gardeners Supply Company Dog and Cat Repellent.
I’m leaning toward the urine because I think it would be safe to sprinkle around my garlic bed.
I don’t want to mess with pepper or coffee grounds or anything that’s just going to blow or wash away easily, and mothballs are out too.

Police Brutality: A Lakewood police officer tortures dog with Taser for no apparent reason. The dog (Otis) was not attacking them and the owner was on his way. Two women said that they heard Otis barking last Saturday morning around 8:30 am and looked out of their apartment window to see the pup surrounded by several police officers. The officers tasered Otis twice “like he was a grizzly bear,” said witness Christina MacDonald. A Swedish artist who angered Muslims by depicting the Prophet Muhammad as a dog was assaulted Tuesday as angry protesters interrupted his university lecture about the limits of artistic freedom. Lars Vilks told The Associated Press a man in the front row ran up to him and head-butted him during the lecture, breaking his glasses but leaving him uninjured. A man whose home Columbia police raided in February on a narcotics search warrant has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and is contemplating a civil action against the department for shooting his two dogs during the raid. Jonathan E. Whitworth, 25, of 1501 Kinloch Court entered into a plea agreement with the state to drop charges of possession of marijuana and second-degree child endangerment for a guilty plea to possession of drug paraphernalia. Investigators believed Whitworth was in possession of a large amount of marijuana and was considered a distributor, Deputy Chief Tom Dresner said in February. Police, who found a grinder, a pipe and a small amount of marijuana, shot two dogs upon entering Whitworths home around 8:30 pm Feb. 11. SWAT team members encountered a pit bull upon entry, held back and then fatally shot the dog, police say. Officers said the dog was acting in an uncontrollably aggressive manner. A video of the raid shows that a shot was fired upon entry, but the pit bull was not wounded until later. Whitworth was arrested, and his wife and 7-year-old son were present during the raid. Both his wife and child were living in the residence at the time, said Jeff Hilbrenner, Whitworths attorney. Police Brutality: A Prince George’s County, Maryland SWAT team raided the home of Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo last night, shooting and killing his two black labs in the process. “My government blew through my doors and killed my dogs,” Calvo said. “They thought we were drug dealers, and we were treated as such. I don’t think they really ever considered that we weren’t.” Calvo described a chaotic scene, in which he — wearing only underwear and socks — and his mother-in-law were handcuffed and interrogated for hours. They were surrounded by the dogs’ carcasses and pools of the dogs’ blood, Calvo said. Spokesmen for the Sheriff’s Office and Prince George’s police expressed regret yesterday that the mayor’s dogs were killed. But they defended the way the raid was carried out, saying it was proper for a case involving such a large amount of drugs.
