dog pepper spray
In my neighborhood everybody has a dog & nobody has a leash.
Owners walk in the streets with their dogs without a leash & I have been bitten on several occasions! The owners don’t even say "Sorry"!
I’M TIRED OF DOGS BITING ME, I’M FIGHTING BACK NOW!

dog pepper spray
I was just wondering because I was walking with my friend to her house and she was talking to me about how there’s this mailman who pepper sprays dogs in the neighborhood and she says they don’t bite or scratch the mailman, just bark at him like crazy,eh. So is this illegal?
Sorry I didn’t put this but yeah they are behind the fence.

I have a two part question: last night my poor dogs got sprayed in the face for the second time in two years (both times late at night). I have tried to deodorize them using the recipe with peroxide, baking soda and detergent, and the one with peroxide, baking soda and dish soap (the detergent worked better). I have also tried de-skunking shampoo, and it was completely ineffective. The problem is that they get sprayed in the face, mainly right up the nostrils, so I need something that I can clean their faces with. It’s very difficult to keep them still, because while they are well-trained, this is obviously not fun for them, and I don’t want to get them in the eyes with any of this stuff. Will tomato juice work on dogs? Is there anything else that is more effective?
and the second part is, how do I repel skunks? I have a half-acre lot, and it is fenced, but my neighborhood is as of late over-run by skunks, which I am guessing is due to neighborhood rats. I know there is a whole family of skunks living under my friend’s porch four houses down, and there is a field across the street from us (that is mown). Because of our schedule (the dogs eat dinner only when I come home from work at 10 pm), I have to let my dogs outside late at night, and there are too many little hiding spots for skunks for me to go out and check before letting my boys out several times a day. Is there any kind of natural repellent, or just any repellent at all to eliminate these horrid skunks without putting my dogs at risk?
also, and I know people think it’s horrible to feed stray cats, but there are two cats that come to my yard occasionally that I have fed since they were kittens. I can’t stand to see anything or anyone suffer. I see that mothballs may be effective for getting rid of skunks, but will they also get rid of the cats?

Mailmen use this too. I like to take walks in my neighborhood but often encounter a loose dog and usually big ones like Dobermans, Rotwrilers, and Pitbulls. I have used the spray and it has worked however I worry about running out. It’s awful that I have to resort to this but so many people here like leaving thier pets off leash. I think they do it to protect thier property.
There are some good answers so far. I have a couple of answers I’m considering to pick but I’ll wait till the last day before I vote. The question may sound silly to some but I assure you there are some folks out there who think it’s bad. Case and point – I had a big biker-type neighbor who yelled at me for using it on his unleashed dog that was charging me. The idiot was standing right next to his dog when it happened. I’ts the owners, not the dogs I have a problem with. After I was bit by a pit I started to carry the pepper spray and was afraid to use it at first, thinking what if it don’t work or I miss his head and they bite me for trying. I’ll have to say thiough it has worked on some big ones like the Rot that is always out. I don’t have to spray him anymore — just point the bottle at him.
I want to make clear a few things. I don’t want you to get the wrong impression of me. The only time I had used the spray was maybe 3 times and these dogs were big and showing me that they were indeed agressive and off their leash or not fenced in. And in response to one of the answers, I have every right legally to defend myself with pepper spray even if the dog was on his property. If the dog is charging you and he’s not restrained you don’t have time to see if he will stop before he leaves the property. They are not likely to stop anyway and how would you know who’s dog it is if its not fenced in?
I’ve decided to let you guys pick the best answer. I found a couple answers I agree with but I’m interested in seeing the results of a unanimous vote.

natural dog repellent
I am tending a neighborhood stray who had been injured in a fight. His biggest problem at the moment seems to be that the insects won’t leave him alone. Everything I’ve seen at the pet store is for dogs only.
I am open to natural recipes too, if anyone knows how to make them, but would prefer to have something I could put on the poor thing today. He’s scratching up a storm, and biting the fur off his tail. I’ve looked for fleas and haven’t found any, just some old scabs he keeps scratching open.
Bringing the cat indoors is not an option, unfortunately.

dog pepper spray
My dog has been attacked again, and I thought this time he’d lose an eye. I sprayed the attacking dog with a whole can of pepper spray, and it had no effect.
I have a knife, but I think stabbing a dog is more than likely illegal, and would undoubtedly upset the pieces of human filth around here that let their dogs run loose.
I am going to move out of this hellish neighborhood in a few months, but for the time being, what can I legally carry to protect my dogs?

I have a 7-year old male tabby who’s been obsessed with going out the front door of every apt I’ve lived in. He’s always been an indoor cat but will sit at the front door and meow at the top of his lungs. When he’s not meowing, he’s clawing the carpet & has dug a whole in the carpet by the front door of my last three apts. I’ve tried spraying repellent I bought at my local pet store which is supposed to deter cats and dogs from scratching & biting but it only works for a few minutes and then he’s back to work. I try to play with him as much as I can when I get home. I do have another cat but she’s 16 years old and has no interest in playing with him. I’d love to get another cat for him to play with because he LOVES to play but I live in a small apt and 3 cats seems a bit much. Any suggestions?
He is neutered and does not live in a neighborhood where I can let him out unless I want him to get run over by a car.

dog repellent spray
I am getting into the habit of jogging in order to lose weight. The problem is a lot of people leave their dogs unleashed in my neighborhood. I know if I cease movement, they will cease chasing me, but this is not always the case. Today I almost got mauled, but I was carrying pepper spray and I used it to avert the canine’s attack successfully. This got me wondering about what other methods for self defense against dog attacks when I go for a jog?
I know there is the ultrasonic repellent. I know there is pepper and OC spray. I also know there is taser. What other methods are out there? Which one is the best or should it be a combination? What should I look for when I shop for dog repellent in order to get the best quality and what a good place to shop?
Also, what ones carry the least amount of legal restrictions in the US?
Rather not use a firearm. Shooting my neighbor’s dog is a sure way to get on their bad side. Plus I rather not hurt the dog chasing me, just have a means to defend myself if I have to with as little harm as possible.
I am not going around "abusing animals".
I go around minding my own business. It is sometimes necessary to defend my self. Hell, I had to do so today, so advice (not harassment) would be appreciated. Thank you.
