Pepper spray use on dog?
My neighbor next door has 2 aggressive dogs that constantly are loose. There is a leash law here and last week one of their dogs (a large border collie mix) actually jumped on my dog while I had him outside on a leash going to the bathroom! The neighbor was smiling because his dog was trying to bite mine! The dog warden came over with the police the next day and told these people to keep their dogs on a leash or they would get a ticket. They had the yellow dog unrestrained when the dog warden came over too. This morning I start walking towards my house from my garage. There is a small parking lot between my garage and my house. I see that the dog is loose and try to walk past it since it was right behind my car that I just parked. It has its head lowered, tail up and is following me and my lab. There is NO ONE holding the dog and the dog is NOT leashed! I start walking quickly towards my house (I have my dog with me trotting by my side) and the dog starts following us along the side of my house and then starts to chase us. He was about 3 feet chasing behind us, I turned around and pepper sprayed him. The dog stopped in is tracks and I then heard the people next door yelling. I ran inside my house and called the dog warden. Do you think I should call the police about this matter? Its saturday, the dog warden wont be in till monday. I definantly felt threatened since I have back and knee problems and no one can outrun a 90lb dog! I also felt threatened for my own dogs life. I wouldnt be running if I wasnt scared.
just to let people know as well. This dog does not have ANY shots or a license. It just looks sickly and thin. It has chased me and my dog 5 times and twice cornered me and my 5 month old daughter in our garage. The dog is not friendly at all and the police know this.
I do feel bad for these dog. This particular dog has almost been hit by cars 2x and he is malnurised and I know its never the dogs fault, its the owners. I want their dogs to get new homes so maybe someone could work with them to make them friendly. Ive worked for rescues before and I feel bad, but Im not risking my dog getting injured. My dog is a future show dog and can not risk a bite!
Alright, I called the cops and they did not do anything, but they took the report down because I guess they know about these people and their dog. lol right now I just looked out my window and the dog is STILL loose! ughhh! Well hopefully the dog warden will get my message on monday
thank you for all the advice! <3
