Literally, what an ***. As we loaded the car visiting family, the 5 of u were outside on the driveway, our SUBURBAN community is not known for crime or anything of that sort. A JOGGER is running on the road 10 feet from my white CHUWAWA dog (6 lb), who takes takes 2 steps toward him, the jogger takes out the spray and douses head to tail (in her eyes) with nearly seemed to be the whole can.

What should I watch for to make sure she is okay? And just give me some feedback, hopefully what an *** this guy is who would spray a WHITE 6lb chiwawa.

Terrible. C’mon even if you are a tad frightened from this dog approaching you, its OBVIOUSLY a small dog, and least it could do is nibble at your ankels; did we NEED to spray the hell out of the dog (need i remind you, infront of 5 family members), THEN keep running as if it were okay? Who the hell carries pepper spray in the suburbs? I think he was LOOKING to use that on someone/something, A little heated right now.

I recently bought one. When I take my dog for a walk, I clip it on the neck of my shirt or on the pocket of my pants. I walk him to his favorite place in a field full of bugs, mosquitoes, and tall grasses. But he loves it and won’t do his doo doo business anywhere else! Also when I weed outside, I use it and the most I got bitten just once! Compared to 10 bites. Hell, that’s good.
(Did a test and used the DEET spray repellent one day cause I was scared my feet would get bit. I sprayed loads of it and I got bit at least 6 times anyways.)

So I found it to work GREAT! At least it seemed to work. Didn’t get bit once the 7 times I’ve walked him so far using this clip. To test, once I saw a mosquito in sight and I took the Clip On and directed it towards it. It flew away instantly.

But… I’m a bit confused. I smoke cigarettes. (Please, no smoking opinions or comments :-/ Thanks.) When I put my cigarette next to it, the fan seemed to suck the smoke in. It was weird. Maybe there’s more to it and it’s not actually sucking the smoke in. Cause I thought it was supposed to be a fan. Blowing the repellent out?

And it also has no odor! HUGE PLUS! They did a story on the local news this week about mosquitoes and repellents. I never knew this but they said DEET (the main ingredient in mosquito repellents) does not actually repel mosquitoes, it just confuses them somehow. They will still come around you but they are not supposed to bite. With the Off Clip On they seemed to avoid me. No buzzing in my ears all the time bull s***!

For those that have tried the "Off! Clip On"

I am getting into the habit of jogging in order to lose weight. The problem is a lot of people leave their dogs unleashed in my neighborhood. I know if I cease movement, they will cease chasing me, but this is not always the case. Today I almost got mauled, but I was carrying pepper spray and I used it to avert the canine’s attack successfully. This got me wondering about what other methods for self defense against dog attacks when I go for a jog?

I know there is the ultrasonic repellent. I know there is pepper and OC spray. I also know there is taser. What other methods are out there? Which one is the best or should it be a combination? What should I look for when I shop for dog repellent in order to get the best quality and what a good place to shop?
Also, what ones carry the least amount of legal restrictions in the US?
Rather not use a firearm. Shooting my neighbor’s dog is a sure way to get on their bad side. Plus I rather not hurt the dog chasing me, just have a means to defend myself if I have to with as little harm as possible.
I am not going around "abusing animals".

I go around minding my own business. It is sometimes necessary to defend my self. Hell, I had to do so today, so advice (not harassment) would be appreciated. Thank you.
