Safety of dogs and pepper spray?

dog pepper spray

My dog was recently sprayed with pepper spray by the local police officers in my city. He did not attempt to attack them. We were in a park when they approached us and I had fallen asleep doing my homework a few of my friends were sitting in somewhat close proximity and they were awake. My dog got very close to me and growled at them and we both got sprayed with pepper spray……a amazing way to wake up if you ask me. So my question is are there going to be any ill effects on my dog?? My friend took us home and we washed him with baby shampoo but I think some may have gotten in his nose and ears. I am very worried please help
I would file a complaint but I’m just happy they didn’t shoot him. The cops in my area are known for shooting dogs. Also if I do file a complaint I would probably have to move. The cops don’t take that well here and the amount of harassment would be unreal
I fell asleep because I felt safe with my friends sitting by me. It all happened very quickly. They were keeping a eye on us and his leash was tied to my leg.
@Mexicano I would file a complaint if I felt safe doing so because A. He was infact leashed! B. He growled at them for getting close to me C. They didn’t even try saying anything to wake me up. and D. DID I MENTION THE DOG WAS LEASHED?
this question isn’t about pitty for the police officers who pepper sprayed my dog and ME all I want know about is if he can have respiratory issues from it

Cop Taser Dog Twice For a Very Long Time For No Reason

dog pepper spray

Police Brutality: A Lakewood police officer tortures dog with Taser for no apparent reason. The dog (Otis) was not attacking them and the owner was on his way. Two women said that they heard Otis barking last Saturday morning around 8:30 am and looked out of their apartment window to see the pup surrounded by several police officers. The officers tasered Otis twice “like he was a grizzly bear,” said witness Christina MacDonald. MacDonald added that “the dog was backing up defensively, as if he was saying, ‘stay away from me.’ He wasn’t being aggressive in any way.” You can read the story here: www.sfgate.com

What method is the best defense against dog attack and which brands are of best use?

dog repellent spray

I am getting into the habit of jogging in order to lose weight. The problem is a lot of people leave their dogs unleashed in my neighborhood. I know if I cease movement, they will cease chasing me, but this is not always the case. Today I almost got mauled, but I was carrying pepper spray and I used it to avert the canine’s attack successfully. This got me wondering about what other methods for self defense against dog attacks when I go for a jog?

I know there is the ultrasonic repellent. I know there is pepper and OC spray. I also know there is taser. What other methods are out there? Which one is the best or should it be a combination? What should I look for when I shop for dog repellent in order to get the best quality and what a good place to shop?
Also, what ones carry the least amount of legal restrictions in the US?
Rather not use a firearm. Shooting my neighbor’s dog is a sure way to get on their bad side. Plus I rather not hurt the dog chasing me, just have a means to defend myself if I have to with as little harm as possible.
I am not going around "abusing animals".

I go around minding my own business. It is sometimes necessary to defend my self. Hell, I had to do so today, so advice (not harassment) would be appreciated. Thank you.

Police Brutality: Mayor’s Home Raided, SWAT Kills Family Dogs

dog pepper spray

Police Brutality: A Prince George’s County, Maryland SWAT team raided the home of Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo last night, shooting and killing his two black labs in the process. “My government blew through my doors and killed my dogs,” Calvo said. “They thought we were drug dealers, and we were treated as such. I don’t think they really ever considered that we weren’t.” Calvo described a chaotic scene, in which he — wearing only underwear and socks — and his mother-in-law were handcuffed and interrogated for hours. They were surrounded by the dogs’ carcasses and pools of the dogs’ blood, Calvo said. Spokesmen for the Sheriff’s Office and Prince George’s police expressed regret yesterday that the mayor’s dogs were killed. But they defended the way the raid was carried out, saying it was proper for a case involving such a large amount of drugs. Well no, it isn’t, unless there’s reason to believe that the mayor, his wife, and his mother-in-law are violent people capable of killing cops who might have served the warrant in a less confrontational manner. The possibility of the mayor or his wife disposing of the drugs doesn’t seem likely, either, unless the family owns an industrial-strength toilet: The raid commenced after police began tracking a package filled with 30 pounds marijuana originating in Arizona that was eventually delivered to the mayor’s wife. Local police are angry that they weren’t notified first: “You can’t tell me the chief of police of a municipality
