I was just wondering because I was walking with my friend to her house and she was talking to me about how there’s this mailman who pepper sprays dogs in the neighborhood and she says they don’t bite or scratch the mailman, just bark at him like crazy,eh. So is this illegal?

Is it legal to pepper spray a dog at large neighbour refuses to contain her dog this dog keeps coming on my property trying to kill my cat every time it sees my cat out & on her property, this dogs runs over in attack mode, my cat is being forced to go under my car. The owner has been advised and still refuses to contain this mutt. This dog leaves owners yard & enters the street barking at young kids walking by and adults. May I pepper spray this dog if it comes on my property , at some point it will kill my cat.I don’t know what else to do.
Let me add this dog is not on a leash or a chain , it is running at large.It only has a collar and tags,. They refuse to contain the dog onto their property, it is running loose and this is why I ask since may I pepper spray it ?
For those who use garlic or natural remedies for flea/tick repellents and preventatives, can I use fresh garlic or do I need to buy a supplement made for dogs like this one:

(Long story short: my dog got a severe chemical burn on her skin from flea/tick medication from the vet and i refuse to ever use that again and put her through that) Thank you in advance.
my area i live in is a high risk one for lyme disease, my friend’s dog recently died from lyme disease at age 4 plus she was an indoor dog never went in woods. even though my dogs got the lyme vaccine i still want to use something to kill off ticks..but the poor girl got such a painful burn:( the animal er shaved her fur on her neck..it looks so raw.

Last night I was walking my 5 month old Lab puppy when this little teenage girl came along being dragged by her Chow-mix. My puppy hid behind me and the Chow jumped up on my leg with one paw on my shoulder.
The little teenage girl said, "No, Sh*t Head!" She had absolutely no control over that large animal. I was close to home and actually ran to my house. I was very upset by the incident. It could have turned out very badly.
My husband went out looking for her to give her a piece of his mind but she had already managed to make it home.
How should I protect myself from dogs on the loose with untrained owners!?

I’m looking for safe flea killers and repellents. I see my dog, Sugar (female West Highland White Terrier. She’ll be 3 on September 10th.), scratch and bite herself occasionally and it makes me sad. Fleas are HORRIBLE. I know, I gave her a bath in the house before and fleas came in my room. The bites are just horrid. It’s torturous. They’re not in my room anymore. My dad bought some Raid flea repellent or something like that. I don’t want any fleas to bother her anymore.
NOTE: Sugar sleeps outside.
So I was looking for the natural, safe for pets and family, flea killers. I found Diatomaceous Earth. I was wondering, where do I put it? Can I put it in Sugar’s bed? Do I and can I put it on her skin and all through her fur?
I saw that K9 Advantix cause some dogs to have seizures so I don’t want to use that on her. Frontline plus has chemicals. So I was trying to look for something natural that won’t harm my dog.
She sleeps outside because my dad doesn’t want her indoors. He saw ‘Monsters Inside Me’ and saw the parasites that some people got from their pets and he doesn’t want any pets indoors. o-o
i have 2 dogs that are fighting and im a small girl and im scared if i am home alone i wont be able to break up the fight. the hose wont break them up or anything like that. i AM trying to do everything i can to stop the fighting but in the mean time i need an extreme quik fix until i can train them properly so please dont judge i just really need an answer and a way to stop them if i am alone, is there any permanent damagae? does it affect them the same way as people? i know it sounds mean but i would rather do that than one of them get hurt or killed. would the pepper spray stop them? once again im trying as hard as i can to train them as well. im also saving for a trainer but im only 16 and dont have the money yet. and keeping them seperate isnt always possible
ok, now I know people will be tempted to say things that I have already thought of, like fix holes in the fence, make sure no garbage or animal food is around, etc. But the fact is, right now I do have holes in my fence, and I do feed the birds, but we have city-issued garbage cans that animals can’t get into, so I need a solution other than taking care of those things.
My neighbor has a family of these damn things living under their porch, and we have a field across the street with plenty of rodents, and two restaurants nearby with plenty of garbage, so unfortunately I know these critters are here to stay. What I need is some kind of natural repellent that isn’t harmful to my dogs or cats. I put out mothballs before I realized how toxic they are (I cleaned them up), and I really want something else. I’ve heard that cedar chips might work. Does anyone know if this is true, or if there is anything else out there?
I need something that will repel squirrels, dogs, AND raccoons. And I need a recipe, not something that can be bought. Those can say they’re all natural, but they’re really full of "natural" chemicals. I want something that won’t hurt any animals, but just repel them.
My neighbor across the street has a dog. This dog always pees on my lawn and this bothers me very much because it causes random dead Brown Spots on the grass. I always cut the Grass and I like my house looking good and this is a serious Problem. To make it worse His neighbor, Also my friend just received a dog Yesterday (September 2, 2008.) I have a two year old black Lab named Booker, and a five year old Shepherd/Lab mix named Cookie. Both of my dogs are very friendly, with every one and everything. Any way, my dogs and i went to a park for some exercise, my dogs were off leash because they are very friendly and there were no signs saying that they had to be on a leash, this lady comes walking by with her Rottweiler and i thought nothing of it.. My dogs, of course, ran towards her and her dog barking but their tails were wagging so you can tell it wasn’t aggressively… Well, within a half a second the lady backs up, pulls her dog behind her then SPRAYS MY DOGS WITH PEPPER SPRAY!! Both of my dogs were yelping and screaming while pawing at their faces, it took me almost an hour to get them back to the car. =( I tried to stop the lady but she told me to control my dogs and left, but they were in control.. THEY WERE GREETING HER! Is there any legal action i can take against this lady? I AM SO MAD!!! I just wanted to hit her!!
IT WAS A PARK! DOGS ARE SUPPOSE TO RUN AROUND AT A PARK!! ALL OF YOU WOULD BE MAD TOO IF YOUR DOGS GOT SPRAYED WITH PEPPER SPRAY! The way my dogs ran towards the lady, you can tell they werent being mean!!
