I would like to spray or place something in my back yard, which is entirely cement (I live in NYC) to kill fleas. I have a problem with alley cats going in my back yard and my poor dog keeps getting infested.

What is a good dog deterrent for outside. There’s wires under the ground and my Terrier keeps digging them up and biting them I put wood on top of them and she bites the wood. Is there something I can spray or put down so she won’t be attracted to that area of the yard. We’ve tried telling her no every time she goes in the area but she sneaks there when we’re not looking.

My dog will bark every time someone knocks at the door or even walks past the house. I have been tempted to train her out of it – however isn’t this also a deterrent for any would be burglars?

I’ve got two male dogs. When I let them outside to potty they do it right near the door on the cement patio. The smell of urine is not pleasant as it drifts into the house so I’m hosing that area quite often. Is there something natural (rather then a chemical) that I can sprinkle or spray there so they will want to go further out into the yard to do their business?

Rats and mice and sometimes snakes can be a nuisance in a country home. One deterrent is to have a dog that is sensitive to the presence of such pests when in the house and fearless in terms of getting rid of them.
Which are the good breeds of dogs for that purpose?
What about a duchsund?

I was considering buying some citronella spray dog deterrent since my dog has gotten into some spats with unleashed dogs on our walks (I don’t feel comfortable using pepper spray on some’s pet). Has anyone used the citronella spray before and do you recommend it?

There used to be an animal shelter near our house and it has moved, but a lot of people in the county don’t realise this, and when they see that it is closed, they just dump their animals off and a lot of them end up at our house.
They are having litter after litter, and we catch what we can and take them to the humane society, but we have a barn and we cannot go under it, and that’s a huge breeding ground…is there some type of herb or scent they hate? We need a deterrent for them this is getting out of hand. I don’t like cats but I hate to see animals in this conditon…
We have a dog but she is too overwelmed with the problem.

I would like to get a dog for protection and companionship as my husband frequently travels. I have 3 children ages 8, 5, and 18 mos. I prefer a dog that does not shed drastically as my oldest sometimes has allergic reactions to dogs with lots of hair. We have a very large home and a medium backyard. I am able to invest time exercising, grooming, and training if necessary. Please help me with your recommendations of an intelligent, family friendly guard dog, that would be an excellent deterrent to intruders.

Do those boxes really work which are supposed to emit a sound that drives away mice? Will they hurt a dog’s ears?
