She is 6 years old and just started this habit recently. Is there a deterrent I can sprinkle around?
There’s a natural area in my back yard – mainly old leaves, pine straw, small yard debris. The natural area is farthest from the house and takes up approx 15% of the fenced partially wooded lot.
I have a 4 year old that is all boy and goes in every part of the yard and a dog that spend the majority of the day back there.
The other day I noticed there were ants in the back corner of the natural area.
Does anyone know of a natural ant derrent or killer that is pet and people friendly?
I have a 5 yr old alpha doberman female, that I found out after having her about 2 months that she was trained as an area protection dog/ deterrent. When she is outside in the yard, she is always "looking" into the neighbors yards, and everything she sees that moves gets barked at and she runs the perimeter of the yard like she is possessed. I was told she was trained to do that. I do not know if she would bite anyone who happened to come into her area,because it is gated and no one has ever tried.I have asked several dog trainers about how to get her to stop doing it, with no luck/ideas that work. She is very very loud and the neighbors kids are scared of her. She is very friendly, and so quiet and chill when in the house and out in public that you don’t even notice her. But shes a monster in the backyard. I have tried the whistle technique, bringing her in when she starts the bad behavior, and rewarding her for "quiet". None of it works. I want to be able to be out in the yard with her and my other 3 dogs peacefully. I have had her for a year and no luck. My other 3 dogs do not act like her. They are very good in the yard and occasionally chase a squirrel. Does anyone have any other ideas?
I have 2 male dogs and 3 cats( 2 are male). I have had all pets for quite some time and they are all fixed. I recently purchased a new ottoman( the one male cat thinks I bought it for him) and have noticed one of them are either spraying or peeing on it. The corners are soaked and some of the carpet also. This is happening everyday when i come home from work and sometimes when i wake in the morning. The one dog I believed it to be ( loves to mark when on walk) had its urine checked and came back negative. I tried to video tape while at work but the tape did not last all day…my question is how much spray does come out when a cat marks? is it enough to soak the furniture and the carpet? the smell is bad…any ideas..
oh and i did spray using a cat/dog deterrent and that only worked for a couple days
I hate pesticides. I would like something natural to kill ants in my home that is not toxic to me or my dog or my hard wood floors.
I’ve seen many times that dogs can be a deterrent against crime. That if there’s a barking dog inside, a criminal is less likely to break into your house. Or if you’re jogging with a dog, you’re less likely to be a victim of attack from a human.
What are your thoughts as dogs as a deterrent?
And also, a twist, do you think certain dogs (for example: small fluffy dogs) stereotype you are an easy victim?
complex. Management won’t do anything,police told me to call animal control, they won’t do anything until the dog gets loose and attacks me or my dog. One bite and Sassy would be dead. What is the best deterrent for a pitbull?
I am looking for real help. If the owners were reasonable people I wouldnt need your help. I have spent my whole life(70 years) around dogs and I know agressiv e behavior!

This comes out in a silly string like manner (I like that it comes out like silly string instead of a spray/mist that is better for if there is wind so it doesn’t blow back on me or my dog as easily…) and reaches up to 15 feet (review said this) though the add says 10 feet…
On a regular basis we have loose dogs in my town, dogs that are not nice and run cross streets to charge you.

Do you think this would work on would be attackers (dogs)? These dogs arent trying to attack me but my dog, if that makes a difference.
(i have tried calling police, there is no animal control where i live, the owners dont care and laugh at you if you tell them their dog is loose and tried to attack yours earlier and oh there is NO leash law in the town i live in! which is NUTS!) –I know it isnt a "nice" thing to do to a dog but hey I would only use it on a dog that is trying to harm my dog. as his owner/leader i need to protect him!
