Natural flea repellent?

natural dog repellent

Does anyone know what I can use in my yard to keep fleas out or at least to a minimum? I don’t want to just go out there and pour a bunch of chemicals (collateral damage would be the death of beneficial arachnids and bugs) but the flea situation is really bad this year and my dog’s topical flea/heart-worm med is just not doing the trick. (He is allergic to the edible heart-worm meds)

Cedar is out as well because I am allergic to cedar oil…
