I am just curious. I don’t use pepper spray. And I most certainly don’t plan on going out and buy pepper spray.
Im just asking because there was an incident of a 11 week old golden retriever puppy being sprayed by the meter person, because apparently he felt he was in danger and the puppy just wanted to play. Yah I understand that by law your suppose to restrain animals in the yard, but come on a 11 week old puppy!? Ohhh yah thats a really danger! What do you think? Did the guy use excessive force or was he right?
ok, now I know people will be tempted to say things that I have already thought of, like fix holes in the fence, make sure no garbage or animal food is around, etc. But the fact is, right now I do have holes in my fence, and I do feed the birds, but we have city-issued garbage cans that animals can’t get into, so I need a solution other than taking care of those things.
My neighbor has a family of these damn things living under their porch, and we have a field across the street with plenty of rodents, and two restaurants nearby with plenty of garbage, so unfortunately I know these critters are here to stay. What I need is some kind of natural repellent that isn’t harmful to my dogs or cats. I put out mothballs before I realized how toxic they are (I cleaned them up), and I really want something else. I’ve heard that cedar chips might work. Does anyone know if this is true, or if there is anything else out there?
I need something that will repel squirrels, dogs, AND raccoons. And I need a recipe, not something that can be bought. Those can say they’re all natural, but they’re really full of "natural" chemicals. I want something that won’t hurt any animals, but just repel them.
I live in a heavily wooded area. I want protection for me and my dog when we are on a walk. I have been reading about tear gas(mace), pepper spray, and now dog and bear repellants and I’m not sure which one is best for my situation. I need it to work for aggressive offleash dogs and other animals as well as people in self (and to defend my dog) defense situations.
First and for most, please do not tell me that it is not going to work and it is going to hurt my dog. I know for a fact it will *not* if given correctly. Iggy has given a supplement with garlic she buys at petsmart for more then 12 years now and all her dogs are flea and tick free and shed little. A friend of mine has given her dogs garlic since day one with vets permission and ALL her animals are tick and flea free. I too would buy the supplement although for some odd reason MY petsmart does not sell them. So like my friend i am going to do just plain old garlic. But i am not sure how much to give. My friend has a large breed dog and she gives a whole garlic clover advised by her vet. So of course i will not give that. So what i really am saying here is if you know and are doing so. How much would i give a 14 pound dog, an 8 pound dog and a 9 pound dog??
This is IF you know. Please no guesses. Also i will call my vet and ask how much when i have the time and he is actually awake . I just want to see if anyone on here knows. Thank you .
I live where there are lots of dogs (Managua, Nicaragua), and the people in this community seem to feed these animals crack for breakfast; they’re amazingly ill-tempered. Whenever I walk my pup, it’s canine mayhem. In the last two days my pup has been attacked twice. I’m concerned that next time it could be both of us, or we might encounter a pack of dogs.
If another attack happens what can I do? Avoiding eye contact alone sounds too "iffy". Would carrying pepper spray help or is that more dangerous?
I know someone might say I shouldn’t be walking me dog here, but this animal needs exercise. He’s already grown out of his collar, and is tearing the house apart with all his excess energy.

what are you talking about? it takes only up to 5 seconds for a male dog (who is somehow wandering without a leash) to mount on my baby princess. Have you ever had a chance to dismount a pitbull or any other big breed at that moments?
I will surely call the police to examine the accident. But i need a few vital minutes to save the grace of the moment.
I already teached her to sit down when she sees an approaching male. But that doesnt always work, when she is feeling funky. I can imagine what gona happen when she will get the instincts boiling.
She will have babies but with a right guy. Im sorry but she can only pick a guy in my list.

Im sorry to hear about your Lab, i think that was a violation as your dog didnt harm him in any way.
Im talking about half a second of mounting time which is already a fact that happened. I can see when she doesnt really want the beef jump on her.
We are not planning to have puppies untill we know where are they going to. I think that it’s more violent to do a one way surgery to pets.
Thank you guys for answers. I think i got the point. I will do my best to hold both Jessie and the "lucky guy" down to earth during her periods. But if i ever see her stressed/scared/crying or in the need of protection.
I have 3 tiny chihuahuas and they are indoor dogs but go outside to potty and play for short periods of time. I have never used any flea/tick preventatives because of all the chemicals in them. Now with all the media showing how sick they can make animals, i definitely won’t be using them! I found a tick on one of my dogs today and now need help finding a safe, chemical-free, natural treatment. Any suggestions?
