  heavy in my opionion is Lamb of God. also Dimmu Borgir, and the one and only…..Mayhem with dead on vocals of course. Slipknot will never touch what Mayhem had as far as being dark and down right heavy. but we shouldnt just down one band because of how famous they have gotten. bands are bands and they all produce good fuckin music!!!!! i dont care if they are slipknot, metallica, or cannibal corpse. in my opinion music is music and is meant for us to listen…not talk shit.

  Typical Slipknot chatter. Always talking about something being “heavy” bringing up dimmu, mayhem, bleh. The problem with slipknot isn’t the riffs (although they’re pretty uninspiring IMO)or the generic nature of their sound (other than JJ) and the muddled result of too many instruments, it’s the weak vocals and lyrics, they’re not introspective or thought provoking as good metal should be, just like ffdp, suicide silence, trivium, generic lyrics always FML, I hate shit fuck u u dont know me!

  And I think it just puts a lot of new metal in the wrong place, it takes a step backwards from all the great shit from the 80′s on. Most of these new bands can’t match up. I rarely hear new metal with the intensity of a napalm death or old fear factory riff. Or great relevant lyrics like Gojira, Meshuggah, Bloodbath, Opeth, or Slayer. Nowadays it’s always shit that sounds like something some 8th grader wrote it. Where are the artists? Where’s the originality?
