Has anyone ever used "Muzzle" dog pepper spray to protect yourself from dogs? How does it affect the dog?
When walking my dog I sometimes fear another dog attacking mine. Would the Muzzle Pepper Spray be a good way to protect me and my dog?

You would want to be really careful about pepper spraying a dog. As it stands, pepper spray is a ‘defensive weapon’, but its a weapon all the same. There is a fine line to define self defence, and if you use it, you could end up charged with assault, animal cruelty, or something. There was a person on here ages ago, that was walking their doberman in a dog park, which is a legal off leash area, and someone who was walking their small dog, got paniky and pepper sprayed the dobe, and accidentally got a little child standing nearby as well. I have a dog whistle that i take with me on my walks, and it seems to be effective, one good long blast, and it distracts the attacking dog. But i wouldnt recommend pepper spray, have you ever been sprayed? Its nasty stuff, and i wouldnt like anything to get it, even if they are attacking my dog.

I always carry pepper spray when I am out walking my dogs. Just in case another dog decides to attack one of mine I don’t want to stand there helpless. I think pepper spray is a great defense weapon because it won’t give the dog any long term injuries but it will stop any attack immediately. I have never had to use it, but I am glad I have it.
Just remember, pepper spray doesn’t just effect the dog you spray it on, it affects everyone in a small radius around you so you will get some, your dog will get some; it isn’t fatal but it is very painful so only use it if absolutely necessary.
