I had let my dog outside, around the side of the house, towards the back to go pee. The mailman came around the side of house, and the dog barked once, and he started yelling and put his hand on what I found out later was pepper spray. The dog started to run towards the mailman, barking, tail wagging.

I ran after her, and she stopped about six feet from the mailman, still sort of barking and her tail still wagging. Right as I was going to grab her collar, the mailman pepper sprayed her, backed up, tripped over a tree root, and fell.

I corralled the dog, put her inside, and in the meantime the mailman said he’s have to write a report on this, and said, "You crazy bitch, that dog needs to be put down!"

This is the first time he’s dealt directly with my dog. The dog is normally inside, and I’ve seen him on one occasion egging the dog on to bark, and then complain that the dog was "vicious".

I understand that as a responsible pet owner, I need to keep her inside when the mailman comes. However, he comes at all hours, so I cannot accurately predict when he will be there. Also, the dog was in the middle of peeing. He came up around the side of the house, towards the back yelling and advancing aggressively.

What, if any recourse, do I have? My dog was yelping in pain for twenty minutes, and got some up her nose. This is the first time ANYTHING like this has ever happened. Had I known the mailman was coming, I could’ve avoided this but I didn’t.
ALSO–the time he egged her on and called her vicious, she was inside the house. Behind a double paned window and a shut two-inch thick oak door. FYI
Apparently, he walked around the side of my house to cut through my lawn to deliver my neighbors mail, THAT is why he was so far around my house. We do not have a fence in the yard, as we moved in literally a week ago. When she’s outside, it’s around back, for 2 minutes TOPS

would spaying a dog with pepper spray kill or seriously injure a dog ?

My dog was attacked today by 2 pit bulls that were not on a leash (like my dog). My dog is big,but passive and did not fight the dogs back and was uninjured. I called the cops and they said I should get pepper spray. I was looking on-line and could not find any place in San Francisco or close to Daly City or South San Francisco (as it is easier to get there),to buy some. Does anyone know any place in those area’s that I can buy some?

Would a package that has some clothing that was sprayed with pepper spray cause the package to be opened or destroyed if you ship FedEx or UPS?
I never said anything about covering something up. Don’t make assumptions.

I have a wild skunk that frequents my back porch. My neighbors are slobs and the skunk can easily get into their garbage for a free meal, he does it regularly! I have a Boston Terrier and I really don’t want to step outside and get sprayed! So I’m looking for a natural skunk repellent that won’t poison my dog. If I just shoot him, then I’ll have a smelly, dead skunk in my back yard! Any ideas?
I’ll try anything, except getting sprayed!

Nothing that will permanently harm dog. Please help. I love my dogs (have two). I am very upset. I was so upset and nervous for my dog, that I can’t even tell you breed or color of dog…it was also around 10pm. It was a large dog. Shadow didn’t require hospitalization, but was hurt pretty bad. Please help.

now they want to charge me because of the dog collar. they say i overdid it and left scars. i say too bad. What says you? It was pretty funny seeing him yelp.

For the past couple of months we have been finding these dead ants everywhere. The first time we started noticing them, they were all over the kitchen counter. Come to find out, they were coming out of the electrical outlet nearby. I still don’t understand why the majority of them were dead though. After we got those cleared out, we noticed them coming out of a different electrical outlet in the kitchen. So we got rid of them again! Well, yesterday I opened the pantry and lo and behold they’re in there now. Most of them dead again, but there were about 10-20 still alive. So we took everything out of the pantry, killed them all, swept them out and sprayed some natural insect repellent. This morning I opened up the pantry to check, and there were a ton more ants in there again (again, most of them were dead). This time, however, we can not figure out how they’re getting in. Any advice?! Also, we have an 11 month old and a dog, so any type of "extermination" would have to be kid/pet friendly! Thanks in advance!
Also.. there are absolutely no dirty dishes sitting around and no open food containers (well, there was a box of cheez its, but they have obviously been thrown away now). I don’t understand what they could be after!
I know most of them are already dead and I don’t have much to worry about.. but it’s still gross that there are dead ants everywhere, and if I can figure out how, I’d love to prevent them from coming in at all. And since all of them aren’t dead, there are some that crawl around on the kitchen floor – where my son likes to walk/crawl around. He’s been bitten by one ant so far, and I don’t want it to happen again! =/
