homemade dog repellent
I was doing research in order to make a homemade flea repellent spray for my dog, and came across a few articles about using diluted citronella oil. But I also came across articles saying to use citronella oil on your lawn to repel unwanted dogs… And I know they make anti-bark collars that spray citronella oil into a dog’s face when they bark because they don’t like it. So is it ok to use as a flea spray or will my dog just freak out because he doesn’t like the smell of it???
The point of using natural flea repellent was to avoid products like frontline. Frontline puts a chemical in the dogs blood that paralyzes the flea when they bite them… it makes the dogs blood toxic. It has been linked to cancer and organ damage over time, and can cause seizures after only one dose. This product is DEADLY to kittens. If a kitten rubs on the dog and gets a small amount on them, they can die. It says right on the instructions to wash your hands immediately if you get any on your skin. If this product is dangerous to get on my skin, why would I put it on my dog!! This is true for all spot-on treatments, and I will not subject my dog to such harsh and dangerous chemicals.

Our deck outback (there’s woods behind our backyard) has a terrible mosquito problem. I am looking for a natural and or homemade solution to getting rid of them. I would like to get something that will repell them from the deck, possibly the backyard. I don’t have a lot of money to spend on all of the products advertized, not to mention I wouldn’t know which one to get. I also have grandchildren and a dog, so I am looking for something safe. Please Help!!

I’ve got 5 dogs and pick up after them twice a day. With the warm weather approaching, I’ve also now got a giant fly population the size of Brazil. I’ve tried to get rid of them using the bags you buy at Lowe’s/Home Depot, fill with water and hang from the highest point. My dogs think they’re pinatas and manage to jump up and knock them down (and get sick as a result). Do you know of an EFFECTIVE Homemade Fly Repellent I can make at home – spray on the lawn, trees, etc…? Would like to kill flies, but not my dogs. Thanks for any help! Avondale, AZ

My wife and I are having a serious problem with housefly infestation. While our house if immaculate, our next door neighbor is a trash collector. No not garbage collection as it is her job, what I mean is that she comes home all the time with just plain old trash that sits in her from yard. The front of her house looks like Sanford and Sons does. Not only that, but she has about 4 to 6 dogs and about the same amount of cats, but I am getting off track. Anyway, our washroom in our basement looks like the room in the exorcist.
We put up flypaper and within hours it is covered in flies. Can someone please help me to find a remedy to keep them away? I have tried many times to find their point of entry, but to no avail.
Are there any tried and true household remedies to repel these pests? I have 2 little ones so I don’t want to use anything toxic and the room is not well ventilated. Money is tight right now too, so an exterminator is not within our means either, plus I don’t feel as though we should have to pay for their services as We are not the cause or source of this problem. Thanks in advance for your help in resolving this matter!

The museum where I work has a front garden used by heroin addicts! The police here in Norway do not arrest addicts because it is not illegal to be a heroin addict. It is quite unpleasant and there is no way to get rid of them. It concerns all of us at the museum because we have lots of school classes, tourists and preschool kids who visit us. Also we have high level research going on, etc. since this is a university museum.
Someone came up with the idea that we could make this area stink so bad, that the junkies will find another place to be.
Any products or ideas about this? Any homemade stinky things we could try? It rains here a lot.
Thanks for any help you can give us.

We recently had a case where a man killed three people while he used hashish.
